Successful academic - getting to do what you enjoy / are interested in/ being open to new opportunities. Feeling what you do has value.

Outputs - blogging and podcasts - both are enjoyable and can be a way of presenting ideas/ speculating and shaping ideas & they can also get you known/approached for talks etc. If you're interested in blogging here's mine:https://hilarypotterphd.com/ - you're also welcome to approach me if you're interested in writing a guest blog post if you'd like to give it a go but don't want to set up a website of your own just yet

I am a postdoc research fellow on an ERC-funded project and have REF-able outputs (monograph pub Jan 2021, book chapter), I'm working on my next monograph, and by the time the project finishes in Dec 2023, I will also have a co-authored chapter, co-authored article, co-edited volume. HOWEVER, I am not actually eligible to claim these against my institition - I think because I am paid for by the ERC. In theory, do I just need to keep writing as much as I can in the hope that when my postdoc finishes, I can state clearly on my cv that I have lots of REF-able outputs?

Regarding non-academic writing outlets, such as blogging, how do we show these works are effective in public engagement except by counting click rates or "likes" ?
